The 25th edition of the Central Districts Field Days held at Feilding's Manfeild racecourse was bigger and better than ever.
Thousands of farmers perused the many stands displaying the latest high tech farm gear, giant farm machinery, or cars and put a few miles under their belt walking around and around. Here is just a snapshot of what was going on.
Levin businesses such as Swazi, Genovese and RJ's were there talking to passers-by about their products and offering samples.
There were a few competitions, such as one for excavating, and fencing, tractor-pulling, dog trials and plenty of entertainment, including an army brass band.
There were places for people to sit, eat and drink and enjoy the music while using free wifi. Plenty of lifestyle options were on offer too, from spa pools to garden furniture.
The army and air force were there recruiting. The army had brought along some impressive equipment from a large truck with a folding bridge on the back to a field kitchen. An army chef must have the most challenging and yet fascinating job of any chef.
The mobile kitchen, capable of cooking for 600-1000 people, has its own generator, and canopy/tent and can be moved at a moment's notice. Just about any vehicle can tow the kitchen, which keeps cooking while it's moving.
