Results, p12Rugby League Hawke's Bay expects to hold an early review of progress in a mixed season that ended on a high point with three age-grade finals in Hastings on Saturday.
League chairman Kevin Tamati said the focus would have to remain on developing the age grades and the growth of league as a winter sport following the staging of a small competition earlier this year before the larger spring-season competition.
The season was a significant success for the new Outkasts club in Hastings, which having reached the spring-season final in its first year at Premier level then won Saturdays 15s and 17s finals, both against MAC.
Possibly more encouraging, however, was the 13s final in which the CHB Allstars ran in nine tries and never missed a goal in beating Wairoa College 54-14.
Tamati said the enthusiasm of the boys travelling from Central Hawke's Bay and Wairoa was particularly worth nurturing.
The league board will meet soon, and plan consultation and an annual meeting, before settling on plans for next season and how rugby league in Hawke's Bay will fit more into the New Zealand Rugby League zones structure.
