Hawke's Bay Power Consumers' Trust candidate profile - Helen Francis
I am seeking re-election for a final term as a trustee for the Hawke's Bay Power Consumers' Trust.
I believe a key part of the trustee's role is to return the maximum dividend into the hands of the consumers, who can choose what to do with this money. Along with Diana Kirton and Ken Gilligan, I believe "Your cheque, your choice".
If I am successful, I hope to continue to provide a knowledgeable community viewpoint to trust decision-making.
My contributions to the trust include facilitating more collaboration between agencies to maximise the reach of the trust's insulation programme, from the 600 Hawke's Bay homes per annum the trust already subsidises, as well as participating in bringing more diversity to the Unison board.
This term will include an ownership review of Unison. If re-elected, I will continue working hard to serve the best interests of the people of Hawke's Bay which I strongly believe are best served by the lines company remaining consumer owned and the trust's assets protected for future generations.
My skills and proven governance experience are a result of ongoing professional development and involvement in several community organisations.
My achievements include the successful recent completion of a PhD in health and a post-graduate business diploma in governance.
I have more than three decades of experience in nursing and community health and am a senior manager at The Hastings Health Centre.
