So according to this, the price of flights in and out of our region should become a lot healthier with the arrival of Jetstar.
The Australian-owned airline announced it would be flying to four new regions - Nelson, Napier, New Plymouth and Palmerston North - with five new routes between Auckland and Wellington. The flights will take off from the beginning of December, in time for the peak tourism season.

Air NZ to relish opportunities ahead

While Air New Zealand provides a good service there is always room for improvement and a little competition will just keep them honest.
