Hereworth School for boys is seeking a new headmaster following the resignation of Steve Fiet.
Mr Fiet has held the position as headmaster of the school since July 2015 but has resigned "to pursue other challenges in the education sector", a statement released from the Hereworth School Trust Board chairman today said.
Students were advised of his resignation this morning at a special assembly.
Hereworth School Trust Board chairman, Jonathan Hensman, said "In his time at Hereworth School, Steve has shown an enthusiasm to see the school and school community continue to flourish.
"One of the top priorities was lifting the academic standard of the school
through the delivery of the programmes and curriculum in the classroom. The value-added results provided at the end of 2017 were cause for celebration.
"His interest in boys' education is reflected in the dedication he has brought to the role."
Mr Fiet's last day will be at the end of April.
The school board has begun a search for a new headmaster. As an interim measure,
it has appointed an acting headmaster, Mr Willy Kersten, who will start at Hereworth after
Queen's Birthday weekend and act in this capacity for the remainder of the school year.
In the five weeks before Mr Kersten arrives Hereworth School deputy heads Kate Field and Deb Richardson will together fill the role of acting headmaster.
They will be supported
by a specially appointed board subcommittee of Gareth Kilsby and Sarah Park.
