Rural properties in Dannevirke have what buyers from around New Zealand are looking for.
Rural sales in our area have been strong over the last 12 months, with top sheep and beef farms selling between $9000 a hectare to $11,000 a hectare, Bayleys' Vic Ellingham says.
Vic, the rural and lifestyle agent for Bayleys in Tararua and Central Hawke's Bay, told the Dannevirke News there was a shortage of sheep and beef farms running more than 6000 stock units.
"I have many buyers on my database who are keen to buy in our area for a 6000 stock unit and over property," she said.
"Buyers are coming from all over New Zealand and many are cashed up waiting for the right property to come on the market.
"I recently sold a lovely 311ha sheep and beef farm and had loads of interest, with multi-offer scenarios, and ended with an excellent result for the vendor and purchaser."
Vic said buyers were interested in a summer safe area, strong fertility, close location to major cities and excellent farming communities, which Dannevirke offered.
"Lifestyle properties remain buoyant and there is still a big demand for them too.
"Lifestyle properties can come in all shapes and sizes, superior or rundown but there seems to be a buyer for them all. I have sold all the lifestyle and sheep and beef properties I have had listed and now need more to satisfy buyer inquiry.
"Last year was a great year and this year is shaping up to be another cracker with stock sale prices strong, the property market buoyant with excellent sale prices and many purchasers still looking to buy their dream property.
"The market is still strong, interest rates are low and there is a positive vibe out there, so if you are sitting on the fence and not sure if you should sell or not, then now is a good time."
