Napier turned into a blur of pink yesterday with hundreds walking for a good cause.
More than 600 people dressed in pink for the seventh annual Tremains Pink Fun Walk, organised by Hawke's Bay Breast Cancer Trust (HBBCT), to raise funds and awareness.
Organiser Paula Hadabora said last night she did not know how much had been raised from the event but the day was more about raising awareness for HBBCT so people knew there was a local trust they could donate to.
Numbers were higher for this year's event than previous years and this would have been down to the trust having more of a public profile, she said.

"This is by far the most successful one, it's probably the best we've had so far."
"It was a great turn out, it went really well.
"Everyone had a lot of fun."
Most people dressed up in pink for the walk and many had some great costumes, she said.
"People made such a huge effort dressing up.
"It's quite amazing, it blows me away every year."
Prizes went to the best dressed male and female and there was supposed to be a prize for most outrageous bra but there were not many to choose from so that prize went to the best dressed dog as lots of furry friends turned up in pink for the event.
The event started at the Napier Soundshell with entertainment, free massages, judging of costumes, food, chalk art, face painters and a Zumba warm up.
A group of Greenmeadows School students also played the ukulele for the large crowd, which was fantastic, Ms Hadabora said.
"They did really, really well."
While the event was mostly a fun affair, there were emotional moments due to the nature of the cause, she said.
One family whose mother died of breast cancer last year released some doves.
The Napier Pipe Band played while participants took off on the walk and there was entertainment dotted around the 5km course through Napier's CBD.
To finish off everyone let off a pink helium balloon at the same time.
All donations made to the charity goes to Hawke's Bay women through a number of community initiatives including a rehabilitative programme called Moving On.
Earlier this month the annual Pink Ribbon Street Appeal was held to raise money for the Beast Cancer Foundation NZ.
In Hastings the appeal, which was held on October 13-14, raised $11,515 which was nearly $2000 more than last year.
Pink fairy helps cop to stop offender in their tracks
A pink crop top, pink tutu, pink fishnets and fairy wings may not be the uniform you are used to seeing crime-fighters wearing, but it was in Napier today as a good Samaritan helped police to stop an offender getting away yeseterday.
At approximately 2pm a man entered a dairy on Hastings St, Napier, wearing a balaclava and threatened a staff member.
The staff member chased the man from the store and across the road onto Marine Parade where two members of the public, including the pink fairy, tackled him to the ground and held him down.
An off-duty police officer who was in the area ran to their aid and she helped the pair to keep the man restrained until on duty police arrived at the scene.
The man in pink, who had recently taken part , phoned police and reported the incident.
"We want to give our pink fairy hero and his acquaintance a big pat on the back for preventing this offender from getting away," said Senior Sergeant Kevin Stewart.
"While we encourage people to think about the risks involved before stepping in during an incident such as this, there is no denying that the efforts of these two good samaritans have assisted us in preventing this person causing further harm in our community.
"I also commend the actions of our off duty officer who dropped what she was doing to respond and assist in this situation.
"We accept the pink uniform is rather effective and was popular with bystanders, but I think we'll be sticking to the blue," he said.
A 42-year-old man has been charged with aggravated robbery and is set to appear in Hastings District Court today.
He has been treated for minor injuries.
Police are investigating and anyone with information can contact Napier Police on 06 831 0700.
