The weather gods seem to have played it kind with a weekend of sunshine expected to wrap up the school holidays.

MetService meteorologist Ravi Kandula said any cloud from yesterday was expected to clear overnight, bringing a stunning day today.

"Hawke's Bay is looking at three mainly fine days with some sunshine and warmer temperatures expected."

The only chance of some light rain was tomorrow, however Mr Kandula said that it was only a "maybe" at this stage.

"There is some rain coming from the south on Sunday morning but it is only a maybe if it will hit Hawke's Bay."

The temperature for today was expected to get into the low 20s with a high of 23C forecast for Hastings and a high of 22C for Napier. Tomorrow was looking slightly cooler with a high of 19C for Hastings and Napier.

Overnight temperatures were also higher when compared to during the week with a low of 9C expected for both Hastings and Napier tonight and tomorrow night.

"There is nothing too drastic and for the main part it is looking pretty nice for you guys."

It should be a good weekend for getting outside and there are a range of activities on offer for the final days of the school holidays.

The Mitre 10 Mega Ride in a Truck Day was one of these activities running today, raising funds for Bellyful and Little Elms. Children will get the opportunity to take a ride in a big rig, riding from Mitre 10 Mega Hastings and Napier to T & G Pipfruit in convoy.

There will be food and entertainment throughout the afternoon at the Whakatu site along with raffle draws, bouncy castles, a truck pull competition, truck rides, a truck show and prizegiving and truck and bike safety awareness.

This was also pleasing for the local market fans, as they should be able to enjoy some fresh produce under the Hawke's Bay spring sunshine.

The October Market in Takapau and the Napier Urban Farmers market are on today from 9am and the Hawke's Bay Farmers Market, the Sunday Market at Ocean Spa and the Otane Market are on tomorrow morning.

Looking ahead to the start of next week, these sunny spells were expected to continue with a high of 21C for both Hastings and Napier on Monday.
