The countdown is on to the 2017 Norsewood to Takapau Fun Challenge.
Run by the Norsewood and Takapau Lions Club in conjunction with Sport Hawke's Bay, this year's 12th annual event will be on July 9.
The charity-focused event has been a great fundraiser in the past, allowing contributions to be made to the CHB Primary Schools Sports Academy, the Norsewood and Takapau health centres and fire brigade among others.
Sport Hawke's Bay's community development officer, Nicki Heremaia, said funds from this year's event would go to Norsewood Community Patrol and the Norsewood Anzac Park project, with the Takapau Lions still to confirm their recipient.
"It's all about participation and giving it a go. You do not need to be an expert to take part as you can choose to participate by walking, running or cycling in the fun challenge as either an individual or part of a relay team," Nicki said.
Runners and walkers can choose to complete a 21.1km half-marathon distance or the recently added 10km option, while cyclists have 20km, 30km, or 40km courses available.
Nicki said the event was a "fun, family and friends event" held along scenic country roads.
"This is a hugely popular event drawing many people from all over the North Island and even the odd international tourist, all with a variety of skill levels."
Online entry and payment option for the July 9 fun challenge is available via the Sport Hawke's Bay Central Hawke's Bay website www.sporthbchb.co.nz
