It will be St Patrick's Day with a difference at the Westshore Beach Inn today - a family day which doubles as an unofficial farewell for Irish bar manager member Georgina Graham.
"We're trying to keep it very family focused," said Ms Graham, emphasising that's what it's all about in Ireland, to where she returns soon to join family in Gorey, Co Wexford, south of Dublin.
But, she also emphasises, that when she finishes at the Westshore next week the trip home will only be for a holiday, and perhaps catch a game or two of a Wexford campaign in the Irish national sport of hurling - the side set for promotion after a big win last week.
"I am coming back to Napier," she said.
While there will be plenty of time for the usual adult indulgences today, the Inn is reserving the after-school hours from 3pm to 6pm for such things as face painting, Irish dance lessons, a kiddies parade, and Gaelic games, including a bit of instruction for the youngsters in the national game, a "hurl" having been a common fixture in the bars of the Westshore Beach Inn in recent years.
"It's been awesome," she says of her time in Hawke's Bay, where she has rarely been too far from family with father George a recent visitor and sister Caitriona having also spent considerable time in Napier.
"There is a huge Irish community in Hawke's Bay," she said. "It's been great."
