The Boil Water Notice for Waimarama remains in place today despite further results of the water supply coming back clear.
Hastings District Council asset manager Craig Thew asked residents to remain patient until the full testing regime was completed.
"As we have said we really do need to understand the cause; and we want enough clear tests that we can be confident the risk has been mitigated."
The Boil Water Notice has been in place since Friday after test results showed very low levels of E-Coli in the Waimarama water supply.
Steps taken so far included inspections of the reservoir, the spring site and the plant, the re-filling of the reservoir, additional water testing and data analysis.
The work is ongoing and council staff are having discussions with health authorities over the next steps towards lifting the Boil Water Notice.
