The small community of Central Hawke's Bay was still coming to terms with the loss of a "top bloke" and his wife.
Kevin Douglas Maulder, 68, and Patricia Anne Maulder, 67, who were found after family members contacted the police with information shortly before 9am on Saturday.
A scene examination continued yesterday at their Waipukurau home.
A man who had done business with Mr Maulder said he "always seemed like a top bloke" and was a work colleague to many in the community.
"We're all pretty devastated in the motor parts community," he said.
Mr Maulder was an employee at Johnson Electrical in Waipukurau and is believed to have worked at the company for around 30 years as a motor vehicle parts person.
Johnson Electrical was not willing to make any comment regarding the deaths yesterday.
Hawke's Bay CIB investigations head Detective Senior Sergeant Martin James said they had almost completed a scene examination and expected to finish around 4.30pm.
Police initially commenced an investigation into the deaths of two occupants of a
residential address in Waipukurau and enquires continued over the weekend with forensic support from ESR.
On Sunday police released the names of the occupants and announced they were not seeking anyone else in connection with the death of the couple.
The matter has been referred to the Coroner.
