Te Mata Estate Winery is relishing in the number of visitors this summer with a higher number of overseas people coming through their doors.
Sales and marketing executive Toby Buck said they had seen people from all over the world with most coming from Australia, America, Northern Europe, France, England and Canada.
He said as well as the rise in overseas visitors the knowledge of the wine tasters was different in comparison to other years.
"A lot already know about Hawke's Bay wine and Te Mata Estate or are genuinely interested to learn more, where as previously quite a few came to taste the wine as something fun to do on a sunny day."
Mr Buck said visitors initially knew Te Mata for their Awatea Cabernet and Coleraine but the cellar door was seeing large interest in their Chardonnay and Gemay Noir.
"These are our chilled wines so on a hot day people are naturally attracted to them. People seem to like the fresh fruit and pure flavours."
According to Mr Buck an attraction for visitors was that all of the wines were grown, produced and bottled at the estate in Hawke's Bay.
"I think this makes it special, as they are tasting a wine that has had its whole life in Hawke's Bay. We are showing them a truly Hawke's Bay wine."
Mr Buck placed a strong importance on the cellar door itself, as he saw it as the face of the business.
He said although they export overseas and sell throughout New Zealand it was important customers associated a good experience with their wine.
"We want to create an approachable and personable impression. A lot of visitors are surprised that they are able to talk to our staff one on one as we are such a big name."
He put their art of the cellar door down to employing staff who love the wine themselves and are also proud of showing it to people.
"We listen to the customers and just enjoy the day with them."
The estate is family owned by the Buck family and was established in 1896.
