A young boy was airlifted to Hawke's Bay Hospital yesterday after a mountain bike accident.

Around 1.30PM yesterday the Lowe Rescue Corporation helicopter airlifted a 14-year-old boy from the Pan Pac mountain bike park near Whirinaki.

The boy, from Taradale, suffered a shoulder injury after coming off his mountain bike.

He was transported to the Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldier's Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

A HBDHB spokeswoman said the boy was treated at hospital and discharged around 3pm on Saturday.
