Dannevirke's under-13 rugby squad has been doing our town proud, manager Bevan Ellison says.
The squad of 30 will play their last two games this weekend against Whanganui and Rangitikei before the Ross Shield squad of 22 is selected.
"They'll then continue training in preparation for the Ross Shield tournament which Dannevirke is hosting this year," Ellison said.
"Our under-13 squad is a really good bunch of kids who have been taking on board everything they've been shown and gelling well as a team."
Having a squad of 30 has allowed coach Gerard McKay to try different combinations and they have been "doing Dannevirke proud with their attitude, playing hard, but fair."
McKay told the Dannevirke News the squad had a lot to work on.
"But they're not far away," he said.
