Repairs to cause delays on SH5

Add a comment

Motorists travelling between Napier and Taupo on State Highway 5 can expect slight delays as a repair programme for the stretch is carried out.

Temporary speed restrictions are in place at various sites along the route as contractors carry out crack sealing.

Restrictions are also in place at several sites along SH2 north between Napier and Wairoa.

Seal widening work is under way on the northern side of the Devil's Elbow where stop-go signalling is in place, with similar work also being carried out on the northern side of the Mohaka Hill and North Shore Rd at Whirinaki.

As well as speed restrictions, temporary traffic signals are in place at Ohinepaka Stream Bridge west of Wairoa and the Mangaturanga Bridge just north of Raupunga.

Bridge repair work is continuing at the Estuary Bridge on the SH2B Hawke's Bay Expressway, where speed restrictions and intermittent use of traffic signals is in place.

A major road subsidence repair job is also continuing at the Mohaka River Viaduct, where as well as speed restrictions there is a give-way priority system in place along the one-lane stretch when the site is unattended. During work hours, a manual stop-go system is in place and motorists can expect slight delays.
