It is the second day of Farmlands Horse of the Year and the excitement is building for the first of the bigger show jumping competitions set to begin soon.
The Norwood Cup is a 1.40 metre show jumping class most of New Zealand's top riders will line up with their Grand Prix horses.
Laura Hutterd, 19, from Taranaki is looking forward to competing in young rider of the year on Friday, but says the Norwood Cup is one of her favourites to watch.
"It would be the first start for all the top Grand Prix horses really."
"I love it, it's so good to watch."
Miss Hutterd says HOY was one few places where everyone came together, "from the South Island, even from Australia".
The competitions are stepping up a notch as the week goes on building up to the Olympic Cup on Sunday.
"The Olympic Cup has the best of the best, in New Zealand and Australia."
