Hawke's Bay's potential for growth was celebrated last night at the launch of the new Hastings Sharp branch.

Napier mayor Bill Dalton and Hastings mayor Lawrence Yule officially opened the branch with the cutting of a ceremonial ribbon, watched by some of Hawke's Bay's most prominent business leaders.

The crowd of business leaders, Sharp representatives, and those who had brought the branch to life heard how Sharp would provide cutting edge document and visual solutions for the Hawke's Bay community, as part of the company's continued growth and commitment to the region.

Sharp Corporation New Zealand Ltd managing director Jan Nicol said the expansion was very exciting.

"Sharp is committed to Hawke's Bay and sees the long-term potential for future growth in the region.

For the first time businesses in Hawke's Bay can now deal with us directly."

Sharp general manager for the document division David Pointon said having a team of locals in Hastings will give Hawke's Bay businesses an unprecedented level of benefits through technology delivery.

"Our fulltime Hawke's Bay team led by Alan Jones will be an integral part of Sharp's commitment providing world-class sales support and service."
