When Christmas approaches every year the students at Taradale Intermediate begin hatching plans to raise money, gifts and food for the annual Christmas Cheer Appeal.
The school, like Hawke's Bay Today, has long supported the appeal and this year there was a three-pronged "attack" which has delighted the co-ordinator of the Napier side of the appeal, Michele Glogoski.
"This is just fantastic," she said when she arrived at the school on Monday morning to pick up what had been donated and collected by the pupils, their parents and caregivers and the teachers.
"They've always been involved with us and every year they join in and come up with this," she said, as she took in the gleaming gold and silver coins of the coin trail and the boxes of gifts and spread of foodstuffs.
The coin trail was put together by the school's Mohaka group pupils and it raised $93.
The intermediate's "Give it Back Group" also got involved with the appeal, doing work for community groups, rest homes and other schools.
