The death of a Taranaki man during an arrest in Napier almost six months ago is still being investigated.
The inquiry relates to the death of 53-year-old Gregory McPeake at Westshore early on the morning of March 13, when he was being sought after allegedly assaulting his parents in Hastings during the night.
Police found him in a car at a Westshore carpark and had to break into the vehicle to reach him. He was reported to have then been Tasered, pepper-sprayed and bitten by a police dog during a struggle. He died soon afterwards.
Police Eastern Districts communications manager Kris McGehan said two separate inquiries were continuing - one a CIB homicide investigation and the other by the Independent Police Conduct Authority.
