Only minor delays are expected across the main highways through Hawke's Bay during the coming week, as repair and construction work is done at various sites.
On State Highway 2, between Napier and Gisborne, minor work sites are scattered between Tutira and Putorino, and one just north of Morere. Speed restrictions will be in place as well as stop/go signals at some sites.
On the southern stretch of SH2 between Napier and Dannevirke road work is under way on sites at Pakipaki, Waipawa and Takapau.
The only major works taking place are at Mohaka on SH5 between Napier and Taupo, where a major repair programme is being carried out on the bridge. Traffic lights and a 30km/h speed restriction on the bridge and approaches are in place.
Motorists can expect some delays as the bridge section has been reduced to a single lane.
There will also be periods of manual traffic flow control during working hours.
The maximum permitted gross weight for trucks using the bridge is 60 tonnes, and trucks are requested to travel across the bridge with a clear separation between them of 40 metres.
The work is expected to be wrapped up in April.
Minor work programmes are also under way at sites along SH5 from Eskdale to Rangataiki.
