The staging of two IronMaori events, today and tomorrow will mean detours and closures in the Pandora region of Napier, with motorists urged to drive with care and patience around the immediate area.
The IronMaori Tamariki event for younger competitors takes place today and the Half Ironman event tomorrow.
Pandora Rd, between Humber St and the Pandora Bridge, will be closed from approximately 7pm Friday to 6pm Saturday.
Motorists using the stretch of SH2B between the Meeanee Quay intersection and the Prebensen Drive roundabout will encounter speed restrictions and stop-go signalling resulting in minor delays.
Delays can also be expected on SH5 between Napier and Taupo as major work on Mohaka Bridge continues.
A speed limit of 30km/h is in place on the bridge and its approaches and is likely to be in place until the end of the year.
Temporary traffic lights are in place and all traffic is now crossing in a single lane centrally located along the bridge. A maximum permitted gross weight for each truck is 60 tonnes, and trucks are requested to travel across the bridge with a clear separation between them of 40m.
Minor road works are also under way just south of Te Pohue and there may be slight delays.
On SH2 north between Napier and Gisborne road maintenance is under way at several sites between Putorino and Morere and minor delays can be expected.
