The New Zealand Guitar Quartet has been described as "nothing less than extraordinary" and "scintillating" and early next month people will have a chance to see the polished ensemble for themselves at the CHB Municipal Theatre in Waipawa.
Formed in Wellington in 2010, the ensemble quickly developed a following around the country, with invitations to perform both locally and overseas.
Quartet members Owen Moriarty, Tim Watanabe, Christopher Hill and Jane Curry are soloists in their own right and have garnered acclaim on concert stages around the world and in international guitar competitions.
Career highlights for the quartet include the New Zealand premiere of the Concierto Andaluz by Joaquin Rodrigo with the Nelson Symphony, busy tour schedules with Chamber Music NZ and Arts on Tour, and concerts in the Adam International Chamber Music Festival, the Southern Lakes Festival of Colour and Christchurch Arts Festival.
In Waipawa, they will present a wide-ranging repertoire of music from the Renaissance era to the 21st century.
They are being brought to the region by Arts on Tour New Zealand.
