All Black legend Norm Hewitt last night hosted a fundraising drive to send a team of Hawke's Bay kids to the International Children's Games.
Held at the Thirsty Whale, Ahuriri, the event aimed to raise funds for the Napier City Council's initiative, supported by the Napier Port, to send a team of 18 kids to the International Children's Games at Lake Macquarie, Australia, in December.
Hosted by Mr Hewitt, the night featured a three-course dinner and charity auction. Among the items auctioned were two return flights from Napier to Sydney courtesy of Air New Zealand, and a night's accommodation at the Dome apartments, Napier.
The Napier Port Children's Games team will represent New Zealand for the first time at the International Children's Games in swimming, BMX, sailing and football.
