Hopes for a single events centre for the Hawke's Bay Show, horse racing and the Horse of the Year Show appear to have stalled after a council-commissioned report failed to come up with a suitable option.
But a working group, including the A & P Society, HB Racing and Hastings District Council will continue seeking solutions. The Council contributed $50,000 to the report which will be made public, possibly today, said Mayor Lawrence Yule.
A & P general manager Brent Linn said while it delivers valuable information, options don't "provide an affordable, future proofed and optimal solution."
Society representatives believe time and discussion may yet lead to a solution, he said.
Centralisation of show and racing facilities has been mooted for many years, but concepts now also consider the HOTY, other showground events, and sports held near the showgrounds.
