The death of a man at his Napier home on Sunday is being treated as "unexplained" police say.
Hawke's Bay CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Dave de Lange said the man's name wouldn't be released until his family had been notified. Mr de Lange said police were treating the death as "unexplained" and would not say whether they were treating it as suspicious until a post- mortem was done today.
Police said the the man was dead when ambulance staff arrived at the Coverdale St house where the man lived with his partner about 4pm on Sunday.
The property was cordoned off as police examined the scene yesterday.
