The Radio Network's Classic Hits station is set to undergo a major revamp with a new name and new voices - although two firm Hawke's Bay favourites will not be affected.
Martin Good and Sarah van der Kley will stay put in their top-rating breakfast slot between 6am and 9am on the new station which will be simply called 'The Hits'.
It will get under way from April 28.
While there had been changes across the scheduling board, the Martin and Sarah breakfast show was never in any doubt, The Radio Network's Eastern Region promotions manager Mark Bramley said.
"They do so well and hold the number one position in the market," Mr Bramley said.
While the local component was not being withdrawn from other stations there would be some altering of day slots - but the Hawke's Bay breakfast pairing had created a strong presence and were staying put in their familiar slot.
"They are real people talking to real people and have great audience relatability."
The Radio Networks chief executive officer Jane Hastings agreed.
"Martin and Sarah are outstanding talents who live and breathe what's going on in Hawke's Bay and they resonate perfectly, being locals, and produce a top quality breakfast show."
The Radio Network had been planning significant changes in what had become a competitive and changing market. "It's an exciting time with the brand re-fresh of a new look and feel," Mr Bramley said.
He said the changes had been brought about by changes in listener habits, with one being people starting earlier in the day.
On the new look 'The Hits' the day will kick off at 5am with The Polly and Grant Show (Polly Gillespie and Grant Kareama) with the pairing also returning for the 6pm to 7pm evening slot.
Estelle Clifford and Dave Gillespie will have slots through until 3pm when the popular Drive segment led by Stacey Morrison and Justin Brown kicks in.
The network's chief content officer, Dean Buchanan, said one thing that would not change was the station playing music listeners said they wanted to hear.
