The northbound passing lane between Clive and the Ngaruroro Bridge on State Highway 2 will be closed on Saturday while the annual Hohepa Home Market Day takes place.
The New Zealand Transport Agency says the closure is to ensure safe and controlled access to the event.
Motorists travelling on that stretch can expect some congestion and minor delays, and are urged to have patience and take extra care.
Some minor delays can also be expected on SH2 north of Napier, where seal widening is taking place at the Mohaka Rd intersection, north of Raupunga.
Seal widening is also planned to be carried out later next week in the Tutira region.
Logging operations are under way in the White Pine Bush area but there is unlikely to be any impact on highway traffic.
On SH2 south, installation of new bridge guardrails on the Tutaekuri River Bridge, between Awatoto and Clive, is continuing and motorists can expect some delays.
General road maintenance between Pakipaki and Takapau, in the region just north of Norsewood, is also under way and there are likely to be minor delays.
Delays can also be expected on SH5 between Napier and Taupo, just north of Tarawera, where seal widening work is being carried out.
Contractors are also at work doing pavement reconstruction around Rangitaiki.
