A book of images featuring local places and faces by photographer Richard Brimer was launched last night at St Andrew's Hall in Hastings.
Creative Marketing joint director Jane Janes said the book had been received "exceedingly well" by the people of Hawke's Bay.
She said the event had been a huge kick-start with a great number of book sales and a large turnout.
Mr Brimer has been collecting images representing the region for about five years, with the intention of producing a coffee table book, so when Creative Marketing suggested doing it as a fundraiser for Cranford Hospice, he was keen to get on board.
It is hoped the books will raise more than $100,000 for the charity.
Mr Brimer lost his son Joseph in January at the age of 25 after a lifelong battle with a rare blood disorder.
It was after this he was approached to do the book.
"Cranford are great, I have always been a supporter so to be able to give back is very rewarding."
Having lived in Hawke's Bay all his life, Mr Brimer had some photo locations in mind, but decided to cast his net even wider - stretching to Waikaremoana on one side and Takapau on the other.
The result is a beautiful representation of people, places and attractions, titled Portrait of a Province.
"I looked at areas of interest, my challenge was to get a selection and marry them all together in one publication," he said.
