Five charged after robbery

Five members of the Head Hunters gang have been arrested following an alleged armed robbery on Tuesday night.

Netana Harmer, 30, Joshua Nield, 34, Christopher Glassie, 28, Andrew Mangi, 22, and Robert Williams, 18, were arrested after they allegedly stole a motor vehicle from another man, unconnected to the gang.

All five appeared in court yesterday.

Four of the five are from Tokoroa, one resides in Napier.

The men have been bailed and are due to reappear in Napier District Court on September 4.

Police allege the gang members took a car from a house in Pirimai at about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Detective Sergeant Nic Clere said the robbery was related to a gang dispute and that the arrested men carried knives with them.

One person was assaulted at the first house they visited but was not injured.

Police said more charges are likely.
