A proposal to review Hastings services covering tourism, sport and recreation is not likely to surface for another 18 months.
Hastings District Council's finance and monitoring committee decided its chief executive Ross Mcleod would prepare a report on the services for the new council which would be elected in October. Any action would be put through the 2014/15 annual plan or the following long term plan which will be reviewed in 2015.
Councillor Ru Collin first raised the proposal 18 months ago and put the issue before the committee this week. He believed public comment warranted a look at what value the council was getting out of regional tourism services, as well as sport and recreation strategies.
