Imagine one of New Zealand's top chefs standing in your kitchen, preparing a one-off menu.
It's not as far from reality as you might think.
Wellington-based chef and restaurateur Martin Bosley has offered his skills as a prize for one lucky punter at the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter cocktail party and auction on May 17.
The winner will receive a menu designed and prepared by the man himself - all in the comfort of their own home, at a date to be decided.
"I have a long standing connection with Hawke's Bay, when my friend John Macpherson who owns Advintage rang, and asked if I would get involved with the project, I said yes."
A pre-arranged appearance at the Noosa Wine and Food festival will keep him from attending the fundraiser, but he was excited by the prospect of creating a magical evening.
"I am really looking forward to it. I just love Hawke's Bay, the abundance of produce there is such a joy.
"My philosophy is to use things that are fresh, in season and to keep it local. We might bring the building blocks of the flavours but the rest we will get there."
Hawke's Bay seafood was coming on board, alongside other sponsors to provide fresh ingredients for him to work with while Advintage in Havelock North will match the wine.
Mr Bosley, whose restaurant won the 2007 Cuisine magazine supreme Restaurant of The Year award has shared his love of food with diners for the past 30 years.
"It's just what I have always done, and it always makes me happy. Seafood in particular has been my passion."
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter cocktail party will be held at Lindisfarne College's assembly hall and theatre on Friday, May 17. Tickets are $90 available now from Thomson's Suits and Grieve Diamond Jeweller's in Hastings, Advintage in Havelock North, Milk & Honey in Ahuriri and Amcal Pharmacy in Waipukurau.
