It has been 11 weeks and two days since Napier man Dan Browne embarked on a Fat to Fit Challenge.
The task has been far from easy and required him to work intensive training and healthy eating into an already hectic lifestyle.
His signature curly head of hair and ginger beard have been left to grow out - with strict instructions not to touch either until the big reveal, which will take place next month.
"It's all over my face and I really want it off, but I have just got to wait," he says. "It will be interesting because I haven't been to a proper hairdresser in about 10 years."
While he endured some discomfort, there were also many enjoyable times along the way and he's managed to pick up a lot of good habits.
"It's been great. I have really liked CrossFit and I will definitely continue. I wasn't too sure about it at first because it's just across the road from me and I used to watch people running up the hill and pushing tyres around, but when you get into it, it's great.
"It's more of a community with CrossFit - if people finish before you they stand there and cheer you on - it's very inclusive."
As a result of all that hard work he has lost 13.5kg, increased fitness and more energy.
Throughout the process he has been meeting with mentor and stylist Vania Bailey once a week to ensure he kept up with a healthy eating plan and stayed on track.
Now he can expect to see a lot more of her as she helps to build up a new wardrobe for him and help out with the finishing touches.
"We are looking to do a preppy look with maybe a blazer and chinos and also something casual but smart," Vania says.
With the hard part over, Dan was looking forward to his reveal, which will take place at Thirsty Whale in Ahuriri on May 17 from 7pm.
All of the sponsors responsible for Dan's transformation will gather at the venue along with friends and anyone else who has been following his journey.
"We decided to hold it there because it was open to everyone and we want them all to feel comfortable," she says
