'Loving mum' to be farewelled

By Sam Hurley

A memorial service will be held this Sunday in Napier to celebrate the life of Hawke's Bay model Hannah Eaton, after she was killed in an Easter weekend car crash.

The wife of Hawke's Bay rugby star Chris Eaton was involved in a head-on collision last Saturday with a Ford Territory SUV, near Puriri, on State Highway 26, between Paeroa and Thames.

A private family burial will be held on Monday.

The service for the mum, part-time model and recent midwifery graduate will take place at St Johns Cathedral at 2pm. A death notice in today's Hawke's Bay Today said she was the "loved mummy of Layla. Loved and proud wife of Chris and beloved daughter of Bob and the late Penny."

Some of the 25-year-old's closest friends also left a message in her honour: "All our love and special memories of your sparkling beauty and personality.

"You will be forever treasured in our hearts."

Waihi doctor Tineke Iversen, who was the driver of the SUV and was seriously injured in the crash, also offered her condolences.

"We have young children ourselves and so we know the heartache and sorrow her family must be feeling.

"We offer our best wishes and support to Hannah's family," she said.

Messages of support can be sent to the Eaton family at PO Box 976, Hastings 4156.
