In a week's time you will be reading the new-look Hawke's Bay Today.
On Monday, February 25 your favourite newspaper converts to an easy-to-read compact size.
The new paper may be smaller, but it will be bigger than ever. There will be more pages and more of what you really enjoy - local news, sport and opinion.
From the first page to the last, Hawke's Bay Today will have something for everyone. We have done extensive surveys and received a lot of feedback. We believe we know what you want in your newspaper. Everywhere I go and whoever I speak to, people know about the change ahead. That is good because it shows that Hawke's Bay Today is an important part of this community.
We plan to build on that relationship by producing a fantastic new paper.
The changes will be extensive - starting with our new masthead. We showed it to you last week - it is modern, bold and fresh, but still retains some of that old Hawke's Bay Today identity you know so well.
We have run the new paper through our printing press and will do so again this week, because we want to iron out any kinks before launch day.
Each day we will have a special liftout section for you to enjoy.
On Monday there will be a sport liftout with a page devoted to school sports, Tuesday will be business with a personal finance page, Wednesday with be lifestyle and arts, Thursday will be heartland and Friday will have gardening/outdoors and a special racing form guide.
We are also increasing our opinion section to three pages with a columnist each day and plenty of opportunities for community leaders and groups to have their say. The very popular letters to the editor and texts will still be given prominence.
In the meantime please don't hesitate to let me know what you think. Thanks to all those who have already done so.
