These are the new Hawke's Bay Today and Hawke's Bay Today Weekend mastheads.
The new designs were unveiled at a launch party in Hastings last night and are revealed to our readers for the first time here.
On Monday, February 25 Hawke's Bay Today moves to a compact size - the biggest change for the newspaper since it became a morning paper in March last year.
We wanted to offer our readers something fresh and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
We began the process last year and the new mastheads are the result of creative process undertaken by designers here and in Auckland. The chosen mastheads were conceived by Aidan Turvey of APN Creative Services - Marketing with input from Art Director Justine Black.
The aim was to keep some of Hawke's Bay Today's old identity with the blue and yellow but also to update and modernise it.
The result is a fresh and lively masthead with the very important slogan - First With The Bay's News.
This is important because Hawke's Bay Today is your local newspaper. Local news, opinion and sport comes first.
In fewer than two weeks' time, you will be able to see a very different newspaper that still has a very familiar feel about it. The new format makes it much easier to read and we will have a liftout section each day - very convenient for sharing the paper with your partner.
Your favourite sections - Business, Arts and Heartland - are still there on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively, but we have also added a pullout Sport section on a Monday and a Gardening/Outdoors section and a Racing form guide on a Friday.
Our Thursday entertainment magazine Entertainment Extra will change to a new magazine called Vibe and it will still include a seven-day TV guide.
We are also increasing our local news pages and will be carrying more comment and analysis. We have exciting new columnists and we are giving community groups and local leaders more opportunity to have their say in our paper every day.
Our readers will also have more of a voice - we will continue with our very popular letters and texts to the editor. We are also starting a Readers' Forum page which will be interactive with our website - www.hawkesbaytoday.co.nz.
The masthead of our Saturday newspaper, Hawke's Bay Today Weekend, will change to fit the style of the new daily but it will remain a broadsheet paper to give you that big weekend read.
You will still be able to read our weekly feature, Insight, and our leisure magazine, Indulge.
