Police are appealing for information after a stolen car crashed, sparking a major emergency services call out to Waimarama Rd on Sunday.
Hawke's Bay Road Policing constable Bob Jones said the silvery-blue Toyota Corolla had earlier been reported stolen from central Hastings but was involved in an accident at about 4.20pm on Waimarama Rd.
He said they slid across a bend in the road and rolled down a bank.
"They came to rest against a farm fence. If it hadn't been for the fence the car would have fallen down a very steep ravine."
He said a local farmer spoke to the male occupants of the car before they were given a ride into Waimarama by some young women who had stopped to assist.
The men appeared to have escaped injury.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call constable Jones on 873 0500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
