Hairy-footed hobbits, bearded wizards and pointy-eared elves will walk the red carpet at Cinema Hastings for a midnight screening on December 12.
Hastings will be transformed into Middle Earth in celebration of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
"We won't have any of the celebrities, but it's about ramping up the Hobbit experience, Andrea Taaffe Events and Promotions Manager for Hastings City Marketing said.
"There will be plenty of characters running around, lots of in-theme costumes, nice lighting, spot prizes and a red carpet," she said.
Based on the level of excitement surrounding Wellington's world premiere of the movie, the event was expected to sell out, Hastings City Business Association Acting Chairperson Sandra Hazlehurst said.
"Hastings is proud to be one of the first cities in the world to be screening the film.
"I suggest you find a pair of pointy ears and hairy feet sooner rather than later.
Stocks are expected to sell out quickly."
The event was also a great way to celebrate the recent re-opening of a cinema in Hastings and to create some hype around the film in our own back yard.
"We are sending invites to all of the schools, a red carpet will be rolled out and we hope people will dress up and get creative."
Matt and Julie Bell, owners of Cinema Hastings, were lucky enough to attend the world premiere and described the experience as, "absolutely fantastic".
