Roadworks on SH2 may cause delays

The last week of winter is set to be a busy time for maintenance crews along stretches of SH2 between Napier and Gisborne.

Drainage work and road surface repairs are being carried out at four sites.

Speed restrictions, stop/go controls and lane restrictions could create minor delays of up to five minutes, mainly around Morere, Putorino and Raupunga.

On SH2 south, underground cabling projects are being carried out at several sites between Napier and Te Hauke, and some delays could be experienced.

Delays may also occur on SH5 between Napier and Taupo as maintenance crews carry out work at sites along the Rangitaiki Plains just east of Taupo.

The Napier City Council's Pandora/West Quay roundabout project is about a week away from completion, with contractors advising motorists to bypass it and use the Expressway and Prebensen Drive where possible. Speed restrictions are in place.

And people looking to head to Lake Waikaremoana on Wednesday and Thursday next week are also being advised of speed restrictions as maintenance crews work on the Mangahohi Bailey bridge.

The bridge is located 34km north-west of Wairoa and delays up to 10 minutes can be expected.
