For the next 10 weeks, motorists travelling the State Highway 5 route from Napier to Taupo can expect slight delays through the Mohaka stretch as a bridge resurfacing and superstructure repair and maintenance project gets under way this weekend.
The bridge will be down to a single lane while contractors are at work and speed restrictions have been put in place.
The first three weeks of the project will involve resurfacing the road stretch.
It is one of three work sites along the SH5 stretch , while some areas of the highway are also undergoing minor surface maintenance.
The other main sites are just north of Tarawera, where repair and maintenance work is being carried out.
Only slight delays are expected for motorists.
Drivers may also experience minor delays between Napier and Gisborne on SH2, with several pavement reconstruction, resealing and highway maintenance sites between Tangoio and Whakaki.
On SH2, between Napier and Dannevirke, there is minor highway maintenance at Pukehou while on SH50 there is pavement reconstruction at Fernhill and maintenance sites between Maraekakaho and Tikokino.
