The generosity of businesses and individuals has seen the annual Christmas Cheer Appeal edge closer to the magical five-figure mark.
Onekawa-based communications supply company Communicate NZ popped into the Napier office of Hawke's Bay Today with a $500 reason for everyone to smile, while in Hastings Mr and Mrs Murray stopped by with a generous $200 donation.
And Napier woman Isabelle Potbury arrived to hand over $42 - money she had earned busking at the Napier market, while a couple of anonymous donations totalling $110 helped swell the fund.
Gifts and goodies have continued to arrive to bolster the late parcels being put together.
Co-ordinator Jill Affleck was grateful to the many organisations and people who had helped to make this year's appeal so successful.
"Special mention must be made to Toops, Heinz Watties, Pak'nSave Tamatea, Paper Plus Taradale, Curves Greenmeadows, Toy World Napier and Classic Hits Radio," Mrs Affleck said.
Drop-off points for gifts and non-perishable foods are located at Hawke's Bay Today's Napier and Hastings offices, the Hastings, Havelock North and Flaxmere libraries, NCC Community Development in the Napier Library building, Paper Plus in Taradale, Toy World in Napier and Classic Hits Radio Station in Napier. Three accounts are available for cash donations - specify if you wish to donate to the Napier, Hastings or Hawke's Bay (combined) account.
