Hawke's Bay Easter weather bomb costly

By Court Reporter

The Earthquake Commission has so far paid out nearly $280,000 in claims from the Easter weather bomb.
A spokesperson for EQC said that, as of Tuesday, $270,166.46 had been disbursed to claimants for the Hawke's Bay storm event.
The spokesperson said those claims were $136,538.13 for buildings, $132,295.33 for land and $1333 for contents.
A total of 424 claims were lodged for the storm event that battered a thin coastal band from Morere to Porangahau in April.
The final cost incurred by EQC would not be known until all of the claims had been investigated - a figure that could still be months away.
