Timely arrival for 1930's style liner in Napier

The right ship at the right time cruised into the Port of Napier this morning - bringing a taste of nautical Art Deco to the region as it celebrates Geon Art Deco Weekend.
The MS Deutschland, described as a small-ship luxury cruise liner with 520 passengers aboard, is fitted out in the style of the 1930s era, with elaborate plasterwork ceilings, polished and sculpted furniture pieces, mirrors and statues from the period and buttoned upholstery.
Outdoor deck areas feature white-painted wrought iron patterned trims and old style lighting standards.
The Deutschland arrived at 9am, under grey drizzling skies, and is due to leave at 7pm tonight.
