New gym to open 24 hours

A new 24-hour gym is opening in Hastings.

Snap Fitness will open the doors to its latest facility on St Aubyn St East in Hastings next Saturday with offers to new clients, including no joining fee for people who sign up this week.

"My goal is to be the best value in town and the best gym, saving you money and time while still helping you achieve the health results you want," area manager Vaughan Wilson said.

"We supply everything you would find in a big box club. We also have a group fitness room with virtual [video] classes."

Set Fitness on Demand group sessions will include spin, Zumba, aerobics, yoga, pilates and spin, with instructors stepping in to lead some of the workouts.

Every member will get a personalised keycard to access the building, even during unstaffed hours, a free fitness assessment with a personal trainer valued at $100, plus an instruction plan.

A personal web page offers access to an online training centre where new workouts can be created, modified or tracked, as well as an online nutrition and meal planning programme which recommends daily calorie intake and menus based on personal goals and preferences.

HydroMassage is another feature, to be made available to members at an "affordable" price.

"You don't even need to get undressed, you remain dry throughout the massage and can control everything, from speed to pressure and area, with an interactive touch screen."

The gym offers a month-to-month option without having to sign a long-term contract and there is the option to freeze membership for up to three months at a time when not using it.

"The economy's tough but people still value their health," Mr Wilson said.

"I want to help by giving them more for their money and contributing to the health and quality of life in our community."

Anyone interested in the gym can call (06) 878 2046 or email: for more information.
