To celebrate the city's 150th anniversary, Trust Waikato Symphony Orchestra and Cantando Choir present A Gala for Hamilton at Founders Theatre on November 23 at 4pm.
The concert will feature popular classics for voices and orchestra as well as music with a special Kiwi flavour.
The concert will feature international award-winning guest soloist Melanie Lina (pictured) who will play Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No 1.
Originally from the US, Melanie now lives in Cambridge with her New Zealand husband.
She is a respected tutor and performs concerts around the country. Melanie was adjudicator for the Wellington Piano Plus Festival earlier this year.
In the tradition of The Proms, the audience is promised a musical treat and in the second half they are invited to don fancy hats and sing well-known songs with the choir.
"We have added a special Waikato flavour, including music that is well-known to all Kiwis and reflects our pride in the background and heritage we share," said musical director Rupert D'Cruze.
Tickets available from Ticketek: adult $30, student/child $10, children under 12 free if accompanied by an adult.
