Something as simple as giving your wardrobe an early spring clean can help disadvantaged Waikato women and break the cycle of welfare dependency.
Dress for Success Hamilton is holding its annual fundraising clothing sale, Bubbles and Bargains, and it needs your help.
"Once you've had a clear out, drop off your clothes, shoes, handbags and costume jewellery to Dress for Success Hamilton or your local Caroline Eve store," says Dress for Success Hamilton manager K-M Adams.
Bubbles and Bargains will be on September 14 at Dress for Success' office in Alexandra St, Hamilton. On arrival, ladies will be offered a glass of bubbly to sip on while they browse through the racks of clothing. And there will be plenty to choose from. The sale will be sectioned off in new, used, vintage, designer labels, and fill-a-bag-for-$10 sections.
All proceeds will go to Dress for Success Hamilton - a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing them with professional clothes, a network of support and the career development tools to help them thrive in work and life.
"In 2012 we dressed 174 women; in the six months of this year to the end of June, we have dressed 108 women," said K-M.
With no Government funding, Dress for Success relies on the generosity of funding grants and donations. "This is an easy way for you to help and freshen up your wardrobe in time for spring."
Clothes can be dropped off to Dress for Success, Vickery House, 113 Alexandra St, Hamilton, 9am-2pm Monday to Friday, or at any Caroline Eve store in the Waikato.
