Who knows whether Thomas Groufsky's presence at Seddon Park inspired an historic Blackcaps Twenty20 victory over England earlier this week?
The young cricket fan won the chance to take part in the official coin toss before the second ANZ Twenty20 match.
Thomas, 10, who is in his third season for Hamilton Old Boys Cricket Club, joined the Blackcaps and England captains on the pitch after winning a competition.
"I was a bit nervous before walking out on the pitch in front of everyone but it ended up fun.
"The best part was being able to talk to Brendon McCullum. He's my favourite player. I was on the sideline the whole time and it was the best result."
Thomas was told of his win in a surprise announcement on Tuesday at a school assembly at Berkley Normal Middle School by Blackcap all-rounder Grant Elliot.
ANZ head of sponsorship Susan McGregor says Thomas is among nine children being chosen to participate in the coin toss at each of the ANZ International Series cricket matches this summer.
"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for a young cricket fan to stand side by side with the two captains and be there for the moment that gets the whole match going."
