A Hamilton woman has turned her passion for needle felting into a craft book.
Liza Adams' book Needle Felting, From Basics to Bears is the culmination of her decade-long interest in needle felting, primarily miniature bears.
After having read books on the subject she realised most of them didn't offer step-by-step instructions with photographs so she set out to write her own. She also took all the photographs for the book.
"It was very time consuming," said Liza. "There were some instructions that required up to 90 photos."
While that may sound a lot, the book starts off with teaching the basics of felting and builds on each lesson, getting progressively more advanced.
The book also includes instructions on how to accesorise the tiny creations.
David Bateman Ltd agreed to publishing and distribute Liza's book. It hit the shelves overseas in April and it has already sold out in some places. About 750 copies have been set aside for the Kiwi market. Those copies are available locally in Paper Plus stores and at Penny's bookstore at Westfield Chartwell.
Liza will be doing needle felting demonstrations in Hamilton bookstores over the coming weeks.
