DVD Review: Movie 43 (+trailer)

By Craig Nicholson

There should be a large warning that comes with this DVD - those who are easily offended should give it a wide berth.

Movie 43 leaves no stone unturned in its efforts to offend as many people as possible.

It is a star-studded collection of small stories pieced together and passed off as a movie script by a washed-up and slightly homicidal producer.

The list of stars is long and impressive - names like Dennis Quaid, Greg Kinnear, Common, Seth MacFarlane, Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, Anna Faris, Emma Stone, Richard Gere, Justin Long, Uma Thurman, Kristen Bell, Gerard Butler, Halle Berry and Stephen Merchant.

And each actor takes on a role that I'm sure they would never have seen the likes of before. The humour seems to target almost every aspect of society. If you can see the funny side of the short stories, they really do challenge you and the way you see the world.

The home-schooling segment features parents determined to bring up their son with all the experiences he would have received at school - good and bad.

So they abuse him, bully him, ignore him and embarrass him - leaving him a rather messed up young man.

Movie 43 is all about taking everyday events and mercilessly ripping them apart in the rudest way possible.

It is very funny, if you are not easily offended.
