DVD Review: Dr Who, Series 7, Part 2 (+trailer)

By Craig Nicholson

A big part of the magic that Doctor Who creates on screen comes down to the companions who help him overcome his enemies.

In series seven, part one, Amy and Rory were more than able assistants and added a lot of fun to his adventures. Now that they are back leading normal lives, the Doctor joins forces with Clara Oswald (the delightful Jenna-Louise Coleman).

Clara mystifies the Doctor as he has seen her die, yet she reappears in other places and times. We meet Clara in 19th-century England, where mysterious snowmen are popping up in strange places and without warning.

The Doctor, in mourning, reluctantly returns to help the universe and meets his Clara. And so a great partnership is born.

Eager to experience the wonders he talks about, Clara heads off with the Doctor around the galaxy, battling aliens on distant planets and causing havoc on Earth.

And for those who have been watching The Doctor for too many years, we are destined to cross paths again with the evil Cybermen, one of his more fearsome adversaries over the years.

There are seven hours of pure magic to be found on this three-disc set and fans of The Doctor will not be disappointed.
